Remodeling, Procrastination, and Moving

Seven years. That’s how long we looked at the old bookcases. The previous owners made them partially out of decking. The top had pulled out of the ceiling, exposing a row of screws. We rationalized. We needed to put in laminate flooring first. We needed to make the cabin into a functional guesthouse (or rental). We needed to remodel the bathroom.

Now we’re moving and getting ready to sell the house. As of this afternoon, the new built-in bookcases are done. Our books are packed and taped up. We’ll never put them here.

Ironic? Folks tell me that’s what selling a house is all about. You fix the things that bugged you, and never get to enjoy them.

Actually, I might know someone… which part of the area?

Well now, that’s a nice set of book cases.

Those look beautiful! (This should motivate me to put my own bookcases in…)

A couple summers ago the guy down the street started to fix up his place – even got a new mailbox. We figured for sure he was getting ready to sell. We ran into him at Home Depot and asked him about it. He laughed and said he decided it was time to actually make his house his own home instead of feeling like a renter. Funny.

My in laws are coming for the summer and are looking for a place to house sit/rent/ borrow. Even a motor homw for our driveway would be great. I pose this to you because you know way more people than me. If you hear of anything or anyone needing house sitters please let me know. We’d have them with us but Grampa wants some space.

I’d take those bookcases in a heartbeat ;) Of course, you’ve probably already sold them. Are they attached to the walls?
